From a concept to a club Kunveno in
Esperanto means
"bringing people together, a gathering". We wanted to provide a place where expatriates could meet internationally-minded locals, where people of all national backgrounds could come together and share their experiences,
feel at home. Though many expatriate clubs exist in most capital cities, most seem to target specific profiles: national or professional groups. We didn't find the club so we decided to create it. The principles
Kunveno brings together internationally-minded people so that they can meet, enjoy intercultural exchange and feel at home. This is done locally via a monthly
informal evening in a designated area as well as alternate events that can take place in other locations. This is done internationally via our website, kunveno.com, as well as our monthly
newsletter, sent by e-mail
to members. Membership is free of charge and open to all who define themselves as "internationally-minded" : expatriates, international managers, returning expatriates, adult TCKs (Third Culture Kids), world citizens,
global nomads, cultural cosmopolitans and nationals who share our enthusiasm for intercultural exchange. We reserve the right to refuse or cancel membership of those not respectful of the principles
(using the club as a sales network platform, making racist or discriminatory remarks, showing aggressive
behaviour towards members or sponsors). All promotional and organizational costs will be paid for
by sponsors. Sponsors are individuals or companies who share our enthusiasm for intercultural exchange and believe that Kunveno should exist.
